One of the most important aspects of the Catholic
education at St. Catherine of Siena Parish is the opportunity for
parish ministry that accompanies learning about God's plan for each
individual and the religious education taught in the parish. With
awareness of their relationships with God growing through their academic
achievements, students are encouraged at the fifth grade level to
serve their parish by becoming altar servers. This parish ministry
continues through high school, and students are present as part of
the liturgy at daily morning masses as well as all the masses on Sundays.
Students are trained by Sister Anne Marie Dorff, the St. Catherine
of Siena school principal, supported by the parish clergy; they learn
responsibility and appreciation for the parish, the clergy, and the
parishioners whom they serve. They grow in their relationship with
their God and with their fellow parishioners. The fact that the students
continue to serve throughout their high school years shows their realization
of the importance of parish ministry.
